Part 16 - Create a Drawing - continued.
Select "Layout..." from the main Resources menu. In the View Layout dialog, enter the X and Y window sizes (in pixels) as 400 by 400. Set the "Page Size" to 11 (X) and 8.5 (Y). Set the X and Y Border Size fields to 0.75 . Set the X and Y Margin Size fields to 0.25 . Select the number of Views to be 3. Using the "Views" widget (or the "Reset Positions" button) will always recalculate the view positions on the page. If the page, border, or margin sizes are changed, you should always re-select the number of views or click on "Reset Positions". The Background Color (default Black) specifies what color to display for areas that are not on the page. The page color (default gray) specifies what color to use for the page background. This dialog allows up to four views, and the position and background color of each can be edited. Leave all these setting as is. Click on "Apply".

Select "Load -> Drawing" from the main File menu. For the drawing file to load, select the "star_draw.cad" file from the VS3D/VScad3 "work\files" folder, or a similar border & title block you saved previously. Click on the VScad3 window frame to re-size (enlarge) the window. Note that the page is correctly drawn in the larger window. If the aspect ratio of the window does not match the aspect ratio of the page, then portions not on the page are shown in the background color (black).

Switch the main mode to "View". Click and drag on each view to rotate it. When rotating, the other views will momentarily disappear (so that the rotating view can be updated faster).

The "File / Save -> Session" menu can be used to save an entire session. A saved session will include the cad model, view layout, drawing background, fonts, colors, lights, etc. You can create libraries of special sessions that you can load when starting different kinds of design tasks.

From the main File menu, select "Hardcopy -> Printer Setup...". Different printers will have different settings. Set the layout style to "Landscape" and choose a paper size of 8.5x11. Select "Hardcopy -> Print" from the main File menu. Note that the view layout on the printed page is the same as on the screen (most printers are not able to print all the way to the edge of the paper, however).

Thank you for taking the VS3D / VScad3 Guided Tour. Additional information about specific functions can be found in the Reference Guide.
