Part 16 - Create a Drawing - continued. Set the main mode back to "Polyline". Click on "Geometry...". Enter two polyline points (one per line): 0,0,0 : 0,-0.5,0. Click on "Ok". Change the main mode to "Select" and click on the new short line to select it. Switch the main mode to "Replicate". Click on "Vector...". Set the replication increment at 72 (degrees). Click on "Ok". Select "Grid/Snap..." from the main Workspace menu. The "Workspace Grid/Snap" dialog allows you to specify a grid of points that all input points (from a mouse click) are snapped to. You can also specify that all input points snap to existing geometry. Turn the "Geometry Snap" On, and leave all other settings as is. Click on "Apply". Switch the main mode to "Polyline". Set the perimeter mode to "Closed". In Freehand mode, click the mouse near the endpoints of the existing lines (in a clockwise direction starting at the top) to draw a star (the input points are snapped to the existing geometry). Switch the main mode to "Select". Click on the star outline to select it. Switch the main mode to "Solid". Set the solid Type to "Extrusion". Click on "Geometry..." Enter an extrusion vector of 0,0,1. Leave the Extrusion Steps set to 1. Click on "Ok". A solid extruded star is drawn. Switch the main mode to "View" and set the view mode to "Rotate". Click and drag on the view to rotate it. Select "Delete -> Lights..." from the main File menu. Click on both of the default lights in the list to delete them. Then click on "Ok". Select "Color..." from the main Resources menu. Define a color with a red value of 255, a green value of 100, and a blue value of 0. Enter the color name: Orange. Click on "Create" and then "Close". Select "Lighting..." from the main Resources menu. Set the Light Type to "Position". Enter the position as: -2,2,2. Set the Intensity to 100%. Select the newly-created color "Orange". Enter the name: L1. Click on "Create". Set the Light Type to "Direction". Enter a direction of 5,1,1. Set the intensity to 100%. Select the Color "Blue". Enter the name: L2 . Click on "Create" and then "Close".Rotate the view some more to see the lighting effects. Select "Layer..." from the main Workspace menu. Turn off the visibility of layer 1. Click on "Apply". Only the original polylines are visible. Switch to "select" mode and click on "Select All". (The solid star is not selected because it is not currently visible). Switch to "Edit" mode and click on "Delete". All the polylines are deleted. Use the layer dialog to turn the visibility of layer 1 on again. |
