Part 10 - Sculpting From A Sketch - continued. Switch the main mode to "Region". Click on the region "Reset" button to clear any existing region settings. Click on the "Polygon (X=Y)" mode button. Set the Polygon Type to "Circle (N)". Click on the "Geometry..." button. Set the "Coordinate System" to "Data Units". Leave the "Center Point" at 0,0. Enter a "Corner/Radius Point" of 4.95, 0. Click on "Ok". Switch the region construct mode from "Add" to "Remove". Click on "Geometry...". Enter a "Corner/Radius Point" of 4.7, 0. Set the Region "Z" height field to 2. Set the "Feather" value to 2. Set the region math mode to "=" (equals). Select "Plateau" from the Sculpt menu. Click on the region "Reset" button. The design now has a raised rim around it. Use the Display Zoom function to zoom in on the Flamingo's body. Set the main mode back to "Region", and set the region definition mode to "Polyline Lasso". Using the left mouse button, click around the flamingo's body, tracing it carefully. When finished, click the right mouse button to finish and close the region perimeter. Set the region "Z" height value to 0.25, and the Feather value to 0. Select "Plateau" from the Sculpt menu. Why didn't all the ridges from the drawing that are in the region get erased by the plateau operation ? Because they are on layer 1 and the current work layer is layer 2. Change the region Height value to 1, and change the region math mode to "+--" (plus-minus). Select "Bulge" from the Sculpt menu. Switch the main mode to "Hammer". Set the hammer tip draw mode to "Polygon (X#Y)", and the Polygon Type to "Circle (N)". Draw a very small elliptical hammer tip. Rotate it so that it is at the same angle as the Flamingo's eye. Set the Hammer Blow type to "=" (equals), and set the "Z" height value to 0.5 . Apply a hammer blow on the Flamingo's eye to "sink" it down to a height of 0.5 . Click on the hammer tip "Reset" button. Switch the Hammer Tip draw mode to "Polyline Lasso". Click in the Hammer Tip window to draw a small rounded feather as shown: Select "Work Layer..." from the main "Edit" menu. Turn off the visibility of layer 1. You can now see exactly what you have sculpted on layer 2. You can also momentarily "hide" the region outline for better viewing. |
