Part 6 - Display Control - continued.
The "View" mode is currently set to "Zoom". Click and drag the left mouse button on the sculpture grid to define a zoom window. The selected rectangle will be zoomed (enlarged) to fit the display window. All operations including hammering, region manipulation and warp vector manipulation may be performed while zoomed. Click on the "Pan" mode button. Click on a point on the sculpture grid. The view is panned so that the selected point on the surface is moved to the center of the window. Click on the "Full View" button. The sculpture surface is sized so that it fits completely within the display window.

Use the window manager control to re-size the entire VS3D application window. The sculpture grid window is re-sized and the surface is redrawn to fit the window. If the aspect ratio of the sculpture grid does not match the aspect ratio of the display window, then there will be black fill regions on the left and right (or the top and bottom) of the surface. The exact dimensions of the display window, in pixels, can be set by clicking on the "Window Size..." button. The window dimensions are limited by the maximum (X) dimension of the display screen. Click on the "Window Size..." button and enter the values 600, 600. Click on the "1:1" view button. This will map each grid point to exactly one screen pixel.

Click on the "Show Rulers" button. This will display rulers along the edges of the display window. Note that the coordinate scale ranges were previously set to -3 to 3 in X and Y. Guidelines are useful for aiding in the placement of hammer blows and in creating regions and warp vectors. There are two types of guidelines - Cartesian (orthogonal) and Polar. Click on the "Guideline Parameters..." button. In the "Guideline Parameters" dialog, enter values as shown:

Click on "Ok". The guidelines are drawn over the sculpture grid as specified.

Click on the "Guideline Parameters..." button again and set the Visibility to "Hide" to turn them off. Also go back to "Warp" mode and click on "Delete All" to remove all the warp vectors.
