Part 2 - Setting Up A Sculpture Grid - continued.
Select the main "Edit / Coordinate Scale..." menu. A dialog for entering the data coordinate extents will appear. Enter the ranges (-3) to (3) for both axes.

Note that VS3D/VScad3 input forms often allow more than one number in a text field. In the above text fields, for example, any of the following would be valid inputs for setting a Min/Max range from (-3) to (3):
-3.0 3.0
-3,3
-3, 3
-3 3.
Basically, multiple numbers in a text field can be separated by a comma (",") or a space (or both). Decimal points are optional.
Click on "Ok". The sculpture grid is now set up. Note that it is also possible to change the grid size and/or data extents of an existing sculpture. Be aware that if you re-size a grid to smaller dimensions, and then re-size it back to the original dimensions, then some resolution (sculpture detail) may be lost. Changing the data coordinate scales, however, will never cause a loss of resolution.
Part 3 - Take A Whack With A Hammer !
Note that the "Hammer" mode button is already set (if not, then click on it). Also note that the "Hammer Tip" draw mode is set to "Freehand Lasso" (if not, then click on that button). In the hammer tip window (the one on the left with the blue cross-hairs), click and hold the left mouse button while "lassoing" an area. Release the mouse button. The area you just outlined is now displayed in relief as a hammer tip.
