1.6.2 Light Source/Shading.

"Light Vector (X,Y,Z)" : This controls the direction of the light source for illuminating the sculpture grid. It is usually beneficial to frequently move the position of the light source while sculpting to reveal subtle details on the surface. There are actually two ways to set the light source direction. Click and drag a mouse button on the light vector circle to position the light source. When the button is released, the sculpture grid is redrawn with the new illumination setting. The circle is actually a dome. If the light source is positioned at the center of the circle then the light will shine straight down onto the sculpture surface. Selecting a light source position near (but not on) the edge of the circle usually results in better illumination. The light source direction (position) can also be specified by typing the X, Y, and Z values into the Light Vector field. Press the keyboard "Enter" key in this field to make the new values take effect.

"Z Height Shade Range (Min, Max)" : These values (Min and Max) control the apparent relief height of the surface. Normally, these should be set to the minimum and maximum of the heights of the current sculpture grid (they are set that way automatically when a sculpture surface is loaded). If it is desired to exaggerate the apparent relief of the surface, then the values should be set to a narrower range. If the sculpture surface looks "harsh" and/or "jagged", then consider setting the Min,Max values to a wider range (to reduce the apparent relief height of the surface). The actual Min and Max values, by themselves, are not really important. What counts is the difference (the range) between them.
