VS3D Region Mode

1.4.1 Region Definition/Modification continued.

"Translate" : Click and drag the left mouse button on the sculpture grid to translate (move) the region. The region will be drawn in it's new location only when the mouse button is released. Portions of the region that are translated off the edge of the grid are lost.

"Toggle Area" : In this mode, if the left mouse button is clicked on a region island or hole, the island or hole is deleted.

"Keep Island" : In this mode, if the left mouse button is clicked on a region island, then that island is retained but all other islands are removed.

"Polygon Type" : In the "Polygon (X=Y)" and "Polygon (X#Y)" modes, this setting controls the number of sides the polygon has.

"Add | Remove" : In "Add" mode, when a new region area is defined, that area is added to the current region. In "Remove" mode, new areas are removed from the current region. Remove mode can be useful for trimming off unwanted portions of the current region. This setting does not apply to the region modes "Translate", "Toggle Area", or "Keep Island".

"Filled | Hollow" : This setting applies to the region "Lasso" and "Polygon" modes. If "Filled" is set, then new areas are filled when added to the current region. If "Hollow" is set, then new areas are hollow (perimeter only) when added to the current region.

"Geometry..." : This button allows a new area to be defined by typing in coordinates rather than by clicking the mouse to enter them. See the operation of the different "Define/Modify Region" modes for more information. When the "Geometry..." button is clicked, the geometry dialog will appear. The fields in the geometry dialog will depend upon which region definition mode is active. For most region types, the geometry dialog has a field to specify which type of coordinate system to use: Grid Coordinates or Data Coordinates. For all "Lasso" and "Open" modes the geometry dialog has a window to type in the XY coordinate points (one X Y coordinate per line - two columns of numbers separated by commas or spaces). For "Polygon" modes, the geometry dialog has fields for the polygon center point and radius point. For "Contour" mode, the only field is the Z height at which to fit the contour. For the "Flood Fill" mode, there are fields for the XY "Seed Point" and the contour Z level. In "Text" mode, the "Geometry..." button brings up the same "Define Text Region" dialog that appears when the mouse is clicked on the sculpture grid during "Text" region mode. In "Translate" mode, the geometry dialog has a field to specify the XY translate distance (vector). The "Geometry..." button is not active in "Toggle Area" or "Keep Island" modes.

"Select All" : This button will select everything so that all sculpture grid points are fully within the region.

"Reset" : This will delete (erase) the current region and set the "Add | Remove" mode to "Add".
